61 Warner Bros Statistics on Scale, Revenue, Streaming and Debt

Warner Bros statistics are best understood through Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the broader public company that includes Warner Bros. operations alongside Discovery businesses.

The figures below identify the relevant segment, geography and period so that company-wide, Studios, Networks and direct-to-consumer measures are not mistaken for Warner Bros. Pictures-only results.

Warner Bros Company Scale and Business Structure

The current corporate frame began when Warner Bros. Discovery completed the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger on April 8, 2022.

WBD shares began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker WBD on April 11, 2022, linking the operating combination to a U.S. public-market listing.

Both dates come from the Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. 2024 Form 10-K. They describe corporate milestones, not the performance of Warner Bros.

Pictures alone.

The Studios business was described in 2024 as a group of 10 named areas:

  • Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group (WBMPG).
  • DC Studios.
  • Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG).
  • Consumer Products.
  • Themed Entertainment and Brand Licensing.
  • DC Comics Publishing.
  • Content Licensing.
  • Home Entertainment.
  • Studio Operations.
  • Interactive Gaming.

These are business areas, not 10 separately reported financial segments. The company’s structure therefore matters when interpreting later revenue figures: the Studios segment includes film, television, games, home entertainment, licensing and related activities.

At December 31, 2024, WBD reported 116.9 million global DTC subscribers. That is a company-wide DTC measure covering its direct-to-consumer services, rather than a viewer count for Warner Bros.

Pictures.

The subscriber count and the quarter-to-quarter increase of 6.4 million from Q3 to Q4 2024 are reported in Warner Bros. Discovery Reports Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year 2024 Results.

WBD reported $39.321 billion in consolidated revenue for full-year 2024, compared with $41.321 billion in 2023. The reported year-over-year change was a 5% decline, and the comparison includes Discovery and other WBD businesses as well as Warner Bros. operations.

The consolidated revenue mix was reported as follows in the 2024 earnings release:

Consolidated category 2024 revenue Reported change from 2023
Distribution $19.701 billion Down 3% from $20.237 billion
Advertising $8.090 billion Down 7% from $8.700 billion
Content $10.297 billion Down 8% from $11.203 billion
Other $1.233 billion Up 4% from $1.181 billion

Other revenue primarily includes studio production services and tours. The categories are consolidated company measures, so they should not be read as Warner Bros.

Pictures box-office statistics.

WBD’s 2024 net loss was $11.482 billion. Net loss available to Warner Bros.

Discovery was $11.311 billion, compared with $3.126 billion in 2023; these loss measures include company-wide impairments, restructuring and other items and are not operating-profit measures.

Warner Bros Studios Statistics: Film, Television and Home Entertainment

Studios revenue totaled $11.607 billion in 2024, down 5% from $12.192 billion in 2023. The segment is broader than theatrical Warner Bros.

Pictures releases because it includes television, games, home entertainment, themed businesses and other operations.

Studios revenue categories showed different movements:

Studios measure 2024 amount 2024 comparison
Total revenue $11.607 billion Down 5% from 2023
Content revenue $10.717 billion Down 6% from $11.358 billion
Other revenue $877 million Up 9% from $802 million
Costs of revenues $7.530 billion 2024 reported amount
Selling, general and administrative expense $2.425 billion 2024 reported amount

Studios content revenue is a company category, not identical to theatrical box office. Studios other revenue was described as primarily production services and tours, which helps explain why it can move differently from content revenue.

Studios adjusted EBITDA was $1.652 billion in 2024, down 24% from $2.183 billion in 2023. In Q4 2024, however, Studios adjusted EBITDA was $950 million, up 75% from $543 million in Q4 2023; quarterly results can be affected by release timing.

The Studios amounts and comparisons come from the SEC-filed fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 results. Adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP measure defined by the company.

Max and Warner Bros Streaming Subscriber Statistics

WBD launched Max in more than 70 countries during 2024 and said the service had reached over 40% of its addressable global market where it was not yet available. The addressable-market percentage is a company estimate, not a measured share of households or paid subscribers.

The company’s shareholder letter also reported 19 million DTC subscriber additions during 2024 and described nearly $700 million of DTC adjusted EBITDA for the year. “Nearly $700 million” is an estimate-style company description, while adjusted EBITDA is non-GAAP.

The Q4 2024 Shareholder Letter set a path to at least 150 million global subscribers by the end of 2026. That figure is management’s forecast target, not an observed result.

WBD reported $10.313 billion of DTC revenue in 2024, up 2% from $10.154 billion in 2023. Within DTC, distribution revenue was $9.022 billion, up 4% from $8.703 billion, while advertising revenue was $855 million, up 56% from $548 million.

Additional DTC categories in the 2024 earnings release were:

  • Subscriber-related revenue was $9.877 billion in 2024, up 7% from $9.251 billion in 2023.
  • Content revenue was $428 million in 2024, down 52% from $886 million in 2023; this measures revenue, not viewing hours.
  • DTC adjusted EBITDA was $677 million in 2024, compared with $103 million in 2023.

At the end of Q4 2024, domestic DTC subscribers totaled 57.1 million and international DTC subscribers totaled 59.8 million. Q4 2024 ARPU was $11.77 domestically, $3.74 internationally and $7.44 globally; these figures are not directly comparable across geographies because pricing and subscriber mix differ.

Warner Bros Networks and Advertising Data

Networks revenue was $20.175 billion in 2024, down 5% from $21.244 billion in 2023. This is the WBD Networks segment, not Warner Bros.

Pictures revenue.

Networks measure 2024 amount Reported comparison with 2023
Total revenue $20.175 billion Down 5%
Distribution revenue $10.680 billion Down 7% from $11.521 billion

Other revenue $341 million Down 9% from $376 million
Adjusted EBITDA $8.149 billion Down 10% from $9.063 billion

The company attributed part of the content-revenue increase to Olympic sports rights in Europe. Networks adjusted EBITDA was $1.917 billion in Q4 2024, down 13% from $2.208 billion in Q4 2023; quarterly programming and sports schedules can affect the comparison.

The revenue and EBITDA figures are from the SEC-filed 2024 results release. Adjusted EBITDA is non-GAAP.

The 2024 Form 10-K reported that domestic linear network subscribers declined 8% in 2024. It also reported a 5% increase in domestic contractual affiliate rates, which are wholesale pricing measures rather than consumer retail prices; both figures appear in the 2024 Form 10-K.

Warner Bros Cash Flow, Debt and Restructuring Statistics

WBD generated $5.375 billion of cash from operating activities in 2024, down 28% from $7.477 billion in 2023. Free cash flow was $4.427 billion, also down 28% from $6.161 billion in 2023; free cash flow is a non-GAAP measure as defined by WBD.

Liquidity and leverage at December 31, 2024 were reported as follows in the fourth-quarter and full-year results release:

Balance-sheet measure December 31, 2024
Cash on hand $5.4 billion
Gross debt $40.0 billion
Net leverage 3.8 times
Debt repaid or repurchased during Q4 $0.5 billion

Cash on hand is rounded to one decimal billion, gross debt is not net debt, and net leverage is a company-defined metric rather than a debt-to-revenue ratio.

The merger-related restructuring program had an expected total pre-tax charge range of approximately $4.1 billion to $5.3 billion. By December 31, 2024, WBD had incurred $4.7 billion of those charges, while expected cash expenditures were estimated at $1.0 billion to $1.5 billion.

These restructuring figures are management estimates and cumulative incurred charges reported in the Warner Bros. Discovery 2024 Form 10-K. The cash-expenditure range is the expected cash component of the program, not the total charge range.
